Jo, da schaut man mal in die Definition von HTML 3.2 rein und findet, dass
fuer das tag <FONT> nur zwei attribute definiert werde: size und color.
Also wenn im HTML zu finden ist: <FONT face="Symbol">Í</FONT>
ist dass eigentlich keine HTML. In HTML 3.2 findet man dazu den Absatz:

#Some user agents also support a FACE attribute which accepts a comma 
#separated list of font names in order of preference. This is used to 
#search for an installed font with the corresponding name. FACE is
#not part of HTML 3.2.

HTML 4.0 sagten denn auch dazu:

#15.2 Fonts
#
#The following HTML elements specify font information. Although they are not
#all deprecated, their use is discouraged in favor of style sheets.
