Shell Variablen werden in Single-Qutes nicht ausgewertet. Habe Dein
Beispiel nicht bei
der Hand aber im Prinzip müßte es so gehen:

sed 'Text in Single-Quotes 1'"$LOCATION"'Text in Single-Quotes 2'

(Die double quotes müßest Du auch weglassen können)
