Das habe ich mir irgendwann aufgeschrieben. Aus meinen Notizbuch:

    Start mplayer with "-vf screenshot"
    Pressing "s" will create a file shot0001.png in the current directory
    Use "." to see frame by frame when watching the video

Damit braucht man nicht "-vo x11", was langsamer ist.
