not so sure if that is a good idea since if installbase is put to 
e.g. /usr/bin or /usr/local, system supplied binaries are there
as well. Most commonly seen is the direct reference to 
/opt/schily if Joergs tools are to be used as for Instance in some
backup tools etc that directly reference /opt/schily/ stuff

We should in no way support this /etc/alternatives forrest of
links that Joerg alwas was disgusted of. Me as well. If I call
telnet, I want telnet for a reason and no ssh or a like. or, If I
order fish, I dont want veggie food;}
