linux-l: SuSE 5.3 Bootprobleme

Hallo,
ich bin jetzt auf die neue S.u.S.E 5.3 umgestiegen. Die installation verlief
ohne Probleme. Der Kernel wird auch von LILO geladen und die Hardware wird
initialisiert, dann bleibt aber das System mit der Meldung:
Unable to open an initial console
hängen. Wenn ich mit der Bootdiskette mit dem gleichen Kernel wie auf meiner
Festplatte boote läuft alles ohne Probleme. Wo könnte ich bei der Konfiguration
einen fehler gemacht haben?
Meine Plattte ist folgendermaßen Partitioniert:
Disk /dev/sda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 527 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
