Ja, das mit dem "-" ist schon nicht schlecht (die Grundidee
stimmt ja), aber es bezieht sich leider auf stdin.

Die obige Befehlssequenz wirft mir leider die Files auf die Platte.

Was man bräuchte ist, stdout auf eine Pipe zu legen.
Kann tar das nicht?

Beim komprimieren geht es seltsamerweise, zum Beispiel mit:

   tar -cz filename > outfile.tgz

Aber beim auspacken habe ich noch nie was auf stdout bekommen. :-(
