betr. div. Reaktionen auf Anfrage:

1.] Um das booten von Diskette komme ich wohl nicht rum, da weder
    MainBoard noch SCSI-Controller (selbst)bootfähig sind.

2.] Installiert ist bei mir RedHat 5.1 - und das hat bei der Installation
    eine Bootdisk angelegt, die ohne Zusatzparameter den Controller
    erkennt.

3.] "promt" war ein Tippfehler ... [in der lilo.conf steht "prompt"]

4.] Auch wenn ich die append-Zeile vor dem ersten image-Eintrag
    schreibe werden die Parameter ignoriert.
    Aber die gehört wohl dahin wo sie steht - RedHat hat eine
    "rescue" - Option angelegt, die eine append-Zeile an der Stelle
    enthält.
