linux-l: Fehlermeldung bei ./configure von xemacs

Moin, mojn,
ich bin gerade dabei xemacs-21.1.7 auf meinem System zu installieren.
Dabei tritt nach ./configure folgende Ausgabe auf:

*** PANIC *** The C compiler can not longer build working executables.
Please examine the tail of config.log for runtime errors. The most likely
reason for this problem is that configure links with shared libraries, but
those libraries cannot be found at run time.

On a Linux system, edit /etc/ld.so.conf and re-run ldconfig.

Der Rest betrifft linuxfremde Systeme.

Was kann ich tun, um das Problem zu beseitigen. Wie kann ich
herausbekommen, welche "shared library" fehlt bzw. wo der Pfad falsch
gesetzt ist?
